There was a prairie burn near the school today, so if your student comes home talking about how it smelled like something was on fire, please know that everything was alright and that the Countryside Fire Department was on top of things.

It is musical week!

Come out and see our musical this Wednesday and Thursday evening!  Woodlawn students have been practicing hard for the Fiddler on the Roof performance.  The show begins at 7p.m. on May 1^st & 2^nd. 

7^th grade students will see the performance live during the school day! 

Congratulations to everyone on the cast and crew!  We are looking forward to the performance. 

Registration

Please register your student for the 2013-14 school year by going to the District 96 webpage www.district96.k12.il.us.  You can save $20 if you register by Friday, May 17^th.

Technology

A couple of weeks ago we had a situation with Instragram that filtered its way into the school.  Yesterday, I had a brief chat with the 7^th graders and talked about rumors and the damage that this type of speculation can cause innocent people.  It was made clear to the students that no further information has been uncovered and that no one from Woodlawn is or has had a consequence in this situation.  Having been an administrator for 12 years, I would consider myself very good at getting to the bottom of most situations.  In this case, no one is talking and the originator of the post has not come forward.  As community members of Woodlawn Middle School, you absolutely cannot pass along rumors implicating innocent students.  This is a dangerous practice and has me unsettled.  Please put your faith in me to look after the well-being and the safety of all of our children.  Again, at this point, no one has been identified and irresponsible rumors are out there.  I am still confident that this situation will be handled.  Again, I am asking for you to trust me to handle this and put an end to all of the inappropriate student and parent speculation.
