January 13, 2012

Snow finally came our way!  I don't think that I will be this excited next week, so feed off of my excitement while I have it and move forward.

The first two evenings for 8th grade parents to attend Incoming Freshmen Parent Orientation Nights is this Wednesday & Thursday, January 18th and 19th.  For further details click here

Please be sure to read the Woodlawn PTO Newsletter.

Woodlawn students are invited by the District 96 Foundation to be creative and suggest their ideas for making their classrooms and our school a better place to learn. The Foundation is accepting nominations online for KIDS mini-grants (Kids Initiating a Difference in School). Please encourage your student to apply. Find the KIDS MINI-GRANT LINK on the front page of the District 96 website. The last day KIDS mini-grant proposals will be accepted is Mon., Jan. 31. Questions? Contact Foundation President Wright Chase wwc11@aol.com

Is improving what your family eats one of your New Year’s Resolutions? Nutrition for children is the topic of the daytime Parent-To-Parent Network program next Wed., Jan. 18 (9:00 a.m. at Sunset Foods in Long Grove, 2nd floor). If you want more information about this free program, featuring dietician Dave Grotto, please call Betsy Fresen, District 96 public information coordinator at 847.459.4260, ext. 7722.

Woodlawn Scholastic Bowl tryouts are Tuesday, Jan. 17.  Click here for details.

Finally, congratulations to the 7th grade boys basketball teams.  In our 7th grade Patriot Middle School Conference Tournament, each of the Woodlawn teams won their brackets and were declared Co-Champions for this season.  Way to go boys (and Mrs. Cooper)!
