February 17, 2012

Time is flying by here in February!

We took our Winter Maps in January and we put the results in the mail today.  When you get your results, you can compare them to the Fall Maps you received around first quarter report card time.  Obviously, we are looking for growth, but there are occasions where a student may be holding at the same score or even going down.  This piece of data will paint a picture of your student as we look at the entire school year.  There is an explanation of the scores in the letter, but if you ever have questions, please feel free to contact the school.

Last night was a special night here at Woodlawn.  Linda Rosen and our 6th, 7th & 8th grade Chorus members performed in our gymnasium.  The students did a great job.  We were fortunate because four of our members performed their solo routines which they will be singing at the state performance this weekend.  Good luck to each of our students.  Mrs. Rosen was given a standing ovation for her years of hard work and dedication to our music program.  As a long time admirer of our music program, it was well deserved.

On Thursday, we had four school board members take a tour of Woodlawn and check out some classrooms.  I thought it was great to have them in the building, taking an interest in our programs.  Their questions to me were around how we could make Woodlawn an ever better place for students to learn.

Remember, there is no school this Monday, February 20th!
